In 1971 the Interserie continued. Seven events were run, the British opting out. The list of competitors improved, with Can-Am cars from BRM, March and McLaren while private Porsche 917s were modified into open cars devoid of all sports car equipment as was permitted in Group 7.
The Interserie season was held over a total of 7 races with two visits to Imola ( first race in may and the 500 miles in September) and two races at the Hockenheim-Ring. In June there was a race at Zolder (two heats), in July a race at the Norisring and in August again a trip to Keimola.

Car from 1966 -1967. A car with no fewer than four Targa Florio appearances to its name, which was campaigned in original form by Luigi Chinetti’s legendary North American Racing Team. The car was further campaigned by Italian private-owner/ driver Leandro Terra, including a Maranello factory update into its present ‘Spider Corsa Montagna’ After six hectic years of competition it would eventually be preserved in his ownership for more than 25 years.

HUBERT ASHER/SCUDERIA NETTUNG
- Klaus Reish
One of the early 1971 Alfa Romeo T33/3s was sold to Austrian amateur Klaus Reisch and entered by Hubert Ascher, the Austrian Alfa importer. First time out at Montlhéry in a French national event, narrowly beating Claude Swietlik's Lola T210. He was fifth in a Wunstorf race in August, winning the sparse over 2000cc class, but crashed heavily in the Interserie event at Imola on 12 September. The car aquaplaned into the pit wall and burst into flames. The driver was thrown out and later died from his injuries.
Note:
The provenance of virtually all Alfa Romeo Tipo 33s is very difficult to establish for two important reasons: firstly, the Autodelta team run by Carlo Chiti kept very few written records of the individual chassis and which ones did particular races or were sold to particular customers; and secondly, where chassis plates were used, these were often removed and fitted to other cars to expedite passage through customs. In addition, though many cars were stamped in various locations, this was not true of every one. Some cars had stamps on the chassis and/or on various components; however, parts were often interchangeable and swapped between the team cars.
